Job Title: Material Services Page

SUMMARY OF ROLE: Ensure ready access to the Library’s physical collection for customers and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND DUTIES:

  • Perform tasks such as check-in, inspection, alphabetizing, shelving, and straightening of materials to ensure ready access of the collection on library shelves.
  • Maintain the appearance of public areas of library by collecting and reshelving materials.
  • Use technology tools, such as RFID sorter, to check in materials.
  • Assist with collection management projects by completing measurement and shifting procedures.
  • Ensure that the collection is correctly shelved by the Dewey Decimal System, by inspecting labels.
  • Provide directional service to customers as needed.
  • Attend library meetings and outreach activities as requested.
  • Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 16 years of age and available to work evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to collaborate and problem-solve with coworkers.
  • Proficiency with MS Office. Ability to perform data entry on electronic device.
  • Ability to work independently and complete work on time.
  • Flexibility to adjust work schedule as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Standard office environment.
  • Push heavy carts daily.
