Barrington Area Library Opens Art Exhibit: Watercolors - Bright and Bold by Richard Helland
- Details
- March 04, 2010
For artist Richard Helland, creating art is as transforming as the final product. Helland works with watercolors using the "saturated process" which means paintings directly on fully saturated watercolor paper allowing the paint to flow and move on its own. Helland's watercolors are currently on display at the Barrington Area Library as part of the exhibit "Watercolor - Bright and Bold."
The public is invited to an artist's reception at the Barrington Area Library on Friday, March 12 at 7 pm. No registration is required. In addition, Helland will hold a watercolor demonstration on Sunday, March 7 at 2 pm at the Barrington Area Library. Registration is required for the demonstration. To register for the demonstration, visit www.BALibrary.org or call 847-382-1300.
Helland's watercolors include scenes from Italy, France, Mexico, Alaska and closer to home - Door County, Wisconsin. His work also includes abstract, non-representational works. Helland attended the University of Iowa majoring in Art and continued his studies at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. He is currently a teacher at Positive Strokes Art School in Palatine, Illinois.
Helland's work will be on display at the Barrington Area Library through March 27.
