Job Title: Digital Services Specialist
Department: Administration

JOB PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Digital Services Manager, support the overall mission of the library by effectively providing library services, relevant to the department, to customers and the community.

Essential Job Duties:
1. Develop and present programs using MakerLab and Studio equipment for internal and external customers within the scope of the position.
2. Provide technical guidance on a variety of applications, software, and equipment such as 3D printers, CNC machine, laser cutter, and vinyl cutting machine with customers.
3. Troubleshoot equipment within the Digital Services spaces.
4. Schedule and facilitate 1:1 appointments with customers.
5. Monitor and send jobs from the 3D print queue.
6. Resolve technology questions related to e-books, digital media production and personal devices within the scope of the position.
7. Evaluate and suggest technology offerings and make appropriate recommendations for continual enhancements.
8. Participate in outreach events where Digital Services are needed.
9. Ensure all policies and procedures of the Barrington Area Library are adhered to.
10. Maintain expertise by participating in professional development opportunities.
11. Serve on planning committees and attend library meetings as requested. 12. Perform other duties as assigned.

• Demonstrate basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and iLife suite. With training, proficiency is expected within the initial employment period.

Education and/or Other Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Familiarity with makerspace technology.
• Ability to travel locally is required.
• Work experience in a public service industry is preferred.
• Experience in developing and facilitating age-appropriate instructional programs is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
• Regularly required to see, stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear.
• Regularly required to bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch to utilize department-specific equipment.
• Physical dexterity involving frequent computer use throughout work shift.
• Occasionally lift equipment up to 25 lbs. as needed to perform job tasks.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
