PVT Robert C. Knaub

Robert Charles Knaub was born in Chicago on October 21, 1922, to Julius C. and Minnie Biewald Knaub.

Knaub enlisted in the U.S. Army on December 23, 1942, and served in the 1257th Service Command Unit at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was honorably discharged as a Private on June 5, 1943.

On April 17, 1945, Knaub married Rose Marie Schmidt in Barrington; they raised three children.

He made a living as a lithographer and lettering artist, and a was a member Amalgamated Lithographers of America, Local No. 4.

Private Robert Knaub died in Elgin on November 23, 1959. He is buried in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
