PVT William Nightingale

William Nightingale was born Christmas Eve, 1892 in Barrington Center to William and Maria Hagen Nightingale.

 

Nightingale served as a Private in Company D, 302nd Engineers during World War I from February 23, 1918 until his honorable discharge on May 17, 1919.

 

He married Alma Heinz on November 6, 1921, in Fremont, Minnesota; they raised one daughter.

 

Nightingale was a lifelong resident of the Village of Barrington. He served as a Village Trustee for eight years, and was a member of the Barrington American Legion. Professionally, he owned a gas station, and worked at the Barco Plant.

 

Private William Nightingale died February 28, 1954 in Elgin, and is buried with his wife in Evergreen Cemetery.
