William E. Pahlke

William Pahlke was born October 8, 1894, in Barrington to Gustav and Johannah Wehmeyer Pahlke

Pahlke enlisted in U.S. Army Company I, 102nd Infantry on May 2, 1918 to fight in World War I; he was honorably discharged on April 23, 1919. The regiment saw action in battles of the Champagne-Marne, Aisne-Marne and the Second Battle of the Marne. They also fought at Trugny, Épieds, and the La Fere Forest.

He married Florence Schwemm on February 5, 1918 in Barrington; they raised three children.

Pahlke lived in Barrington for most of his life, and was employed as a machinist for an electric company.

Veteran William Pahlke died July 17, 1986 at the VA Medical Center in North Chicago, and is buried with his wife and daughter in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
