Robert Peter Weese was born in Huntingdon, Indiana on August 9, 1887, to Horace G. and Harriet Favorite Weese.

Weese graduated from Northwestern University in 1912, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

As a member of the U.S. Naval Reserve Force, Weese was activated on September 5, 1917 for service in World War I, and assigned to the USS Commodore as a Chief Machinist’s Mate. Founded on August 29, 1916, the U.S. Naval Reserve Force (USNRF) opened up enlistment requirements beyond USN Veterans, and organized Reservists into six categories based on their experience, trade and area of operability. Weese was honorably discharged on September 4, 1920.

After the war, he pursued a career as a Civil Engineer, working both independently and for the Northwestern Railway.

In 1937, he married Kathleen Sedmihradsky in Kenosha, Wisconsin; they raised two daughters in Barrington.

Chief Machinist’s Mate Robert Weese died on February 5, 1957 in Chicago, during his evening commute to Barrington. He is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
